Say “hey!” to the new People’s Co-op Tech-blog! An online digital compendium of the way things work (technologically speaking, of course) here at Peeps. The idea is to pour all of the material i have generated about cash register operations, computers, phones, you-name-it, into one place which will then be searchable, referenceable, non-sensical, and incredible.
I would also like to use this forum to post tutorials, websites and any other info i feel like throwing at you.
While i am leery of introducing yet another communication medium into our workflow at the co-op the advantages of having a co-op tech blog seem to outweigh the fears i have around introducing one. A blog offers many nice features:
- The ability to post by any authorized individual.
- The ability to comment on each post.
- Blogs are automatically archived and searchable, so we can easily find past topics of conversation.
- Accessible from anywhere.
- Many convenient ways to stay abreast of whats happening on the blog, mainly via RSS news readers. These are now so common that Firefox and Safari have this feature built in. (I prefer Google’s Reader, personally).
I’m sure there’s more. I’ll view this as a grand expirement, and if it seems like people actually read the blog and use it, and if i remember to keep it current then it might be worth looking into other areas of operations where a similar blogginess might help.
So i am interested in what folks think of this idea. Now, of course, but also once i’ve actually got some content posted up here. And don’t worry if the blogginess seems overwhelming, i intend to blog about how this all works as well. So please leave some comments and let me know what you think, and please, be honest.
Just to be clear…i am in NO way prepared to pay people for their time while reading this blog. This is NOT some new communication requirement.

You say it’s accessible from anywhere.
How about the register?
That seems to me the time I’d want the information most.
