Say hello to the new blogginess.
Very turtley, wouldn’t you say? While i am still working on a few minor design tweaks, the overall layout is done and polished enough so that i don’t mind if people look at it. joelbrock.org is a new web presence for me, i’m using it to, among other things, host people’s off-site backup data, serve various software-related websites and web applications, and host this blog.
a bit about the design:
the whole page is laid out using CSS (i started with the k2 wordpress theme), the only images that make up the design are the big tortoise and a transparent GIF for button rollovers. The tortoise came from google images. The 3-column layout was inspired (heavily) by graphic artist for the NYT and friend nedward’s personal blog. The typeface is Helvetica Neue because, well, its Helvetica. I had done a masthead in the header using a tightly kerned Helvetica Neue and the end result was waaay too AmericanApparel for my liking. So i switched to a machine readable OCR font and hope that someone gifts me with a cool idea for a blog name.
so leave your suggestions in the comments below….
In the far right column you can view all kindsa neat things like what i’ve been listening to, or what websites i’ve bookmarked recently an stuff.
For comparison, the old site at wordpress.com:
