The NEW office!

As some of you may know, i recently quit my job to pursue possibilities.  My livelihood will be earned along with so many others as a free-lance tech consultant and graphic designer.  A ballsy move to be sure.  But have faith.

Once i had finished with the old gig i needed to do some serious refactoring if i had any hope to be productive and focused in my new career path.  First order of business:  I needed a new office.  I decided to set up a workspace in my bedroom, and boy, is it worky!

After the break you can see pix and deets on my new faboo work environment.

Here’s a pic of the new setup:

This shot was taken just after the completion of the project, i can assure you, it’s looking much more “used” now.  And i’ve added some more plants and art.

My setup:

  • 17″ MBP w/ 22″ Acer LCD
  • 1.8GHz G5 tower running as headless server media server
  • 1TB Western Digital My Book Studio Edition (quad interface)
  • 2 Ubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty Jackalope” clients
  • 19″ Acer LCD
  • Harman-Kardon SOUNDSTICKS
  • IKEA MARKUS desk chair
  • and some of those IKEA “floating” shelves
  • L-shaped desk purchased from the Goodwill Bins for $1
  • Big sheet of sound-proofing material used as a bulletin board
  • Some random other computers and bits of cash register hardware

It was fun to set it all up and it’s just as fun to “go to work” everyday.  As a point of reference, here is a picture of my desk at the old job:
