As some of you may know, i recently quit my job to pursue possibilities. My livelihood will be earned along with so many others as a free-lance tech consultant and graphic designer. A ballsy move to be sure. But have faith.
Once i had finished with the old gig i needed to do some serious refactoring if i had any hope to be productive and focused in my new career path. First order of business: I needed a new office. I decided to set up a workspace in my bedroom, and boy, is it worky!
After the break you can see pix and deets on my new faboo work environment.
Here’s a pic of the new setup:

My new office
This shot was taken just after the completion of the project, i can assure you, it’s looking much more “used” now. And i’ve added some more plants and art.
My setup:
- 17″ MBP w/ 22″ Acer LCD
- 1.8GHz G5 tower running as headless server media server
- 1TB Western Digital My Book Studio Edition (quad interface)
- 2 Ubuntu 9.04 “Jaunty Jackalope” clients
- 19″ Acer LCD
- Harman-Kardon SOUNDSTICKS
- IKEA MARKUS desk chair
- and some of those IKEA “floating” shelves
- L-shaped desk purchased from the Goodwill Bins for $1
- Big sheet of sound-proofing material used as a bulletin board
- Some random other computers and bits of cash register hardware
It was fun to set it all up and it’s just as fun to “go to work” everyday. As a point of reference, here is a picture of my desk at the old job:
